Our first album BRUX is out June 1st. This album took a really long time to make. We wrote the entire album remotely during a really difficult time in our own lives and in the world, and we think you'll hear that reflected in what we wrote.

Art is always political, and so much of what we wrote about were systems breaking down, or the broken systems in place that keep us from achieving real equality. Our single, The Old World Is Dying, was inspired by the protests following the May 25th, 2020 murder of George Floyd. 

 

A lot of the lyrics you will hear were inspired by Marina's real life experiences in the world. I Don't Owe You A Conversation is about the many, many times Marina has simply been out in the world existing and a random person with no qualifications tries to tell her about her own area of expertise.

You Won't Get Your Way is our love letter to anyone who has ever been at a party with a very very rich person who won't stop talking. 

 

I'm Not The One You Need has the most badass guitar solo Marina has ever heard. Jared does not necessarily agree.

​

Jared and Jonathan played in the band damn regina for nearly a decade. Jonathan plays both drums and bass guitar, as well as upright string bass. Jared is a master guitar player, but he also plays bass trombone and a number of other instruments. We all played in high school marching band together, and someone out there has photos. 

​

We wrote this album while working multiple jobs and living in and around Los Angeles County. Some of it was recorded in Yucca Valley, some of it in Whittier, and we did do all of it ourselves because we aren't rich people.
